Why Renting the Right Equipment Matters
Choosing the right equipment rental can save time, reduce costs, and improve safety on your job site. Whether you’re working indoors or outdoors, on a construction project, or in a warehouse, selecting the right aerial lift is essential. This guide will help you make an informed decision.
Step 1: Identify Your Work Environment
- Indoor or paved surfaces? → Use an electric boom lift or scissor lift for smooth flooring.
- Outdoor or rough terrain? → Choose a diesel-powered rough terrain lift with large tires for stability.
- Tight spaces or confined areas? → A compact scissor lift or vertical mast lift is ideal.
Step 2: Determine Your Required Height & Reach
- Straight up & down? → A scissor lift works best.
- Need to reach over obstacles? → Use an articulating boom lift for flexibility.
- Need maximum horizontal reach? → A straight (telescopic) boom lift extends the farthest.
Step 3: Consider Weight Capacity – Are you lifting people or materials?
- For two workers & tools → Check the platform weight limits (typically 500-1,000 lbs).
- For heavier loads → Use a material lift or telehandler instead.
Step 4: Check Power Source
- Electric lifts → Ideal for quiet, indoor use.
- Diesel lifts → Best for outdoor, heavy-duty jobs.
Step 5: Understand Rental Terms & Costs
- Rentals are based on daily (8 hrs), weekly (40 hrs), or 4-week (160 hrs) periods.
- Additional charges apply for fuel, Damage Waiver, Environmental Fee, Transportation & Service fee
- Delivery & Pickup fees vary by location—Request a quote for pricing.
Step 6: Safety & Training Requirements
- Operators must be trained & certified per OSHA and ANSI standards.
- A safety harness is required for certain lifts—check the manufacturer guidelines.
- Never exceed the maximum weight limit of the lift.
